SHRM's HR Management Certification Prep Program offered by NIU Outreach provides human resource professionals with a comprehensive understanding of the six functional areas of human resource management as defined by the profession.
This award-winning 13 week course serves as a review/study course for those seeking certification as Professional Human Resource (PHR) or Senior Professional Human Resource (SPHR) through the exam process administered by the Human Resources Certificate Institute (HRCI).
Other professionals and HR specialists desiring an increased understanding of management issues will also find this course most beneficial for professional development purposes.

Payment Plan
You must register online for the payment plan option. Click event number above to reigster online. Payment plan is available for those using a credit card to register. A 25% payment of course fee required at time registration is completed. Balance must be paid in full at least 21 days prior to class start. Credit card will be charged any outstanding balance. Students may make additional payments prior to the final due date by check or money order and amount will be credited as received (mailed to Outreach Registration, 140 Swen Parson Hall, DeKalb, IL 60115. Name, address, event number and order number must be included with payment. Participant materials will not be distributed until payment is received in full.
Course fees include the complete SHRM Learning system with computer-based study aids and instructor supplemental resources.
Sessions are taught by practicing corporate HR professionals and attorneys specializing in each area. Interactive sessions include case study discussions, lecture, question and answer sessions, and multiple choice tests reflecting the types of questions on the HRCI accreditation exams.
Participants who successfully complete the course, including those who choose not to take the HRCI exam, will receive Certificates of Completion from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and 36 contact hours.
This program is offered each fall and spring prior to the December and May examinations. For exam eligibility, application and fee information, visit http://www.hrci.org. NIU offers courses at multiple locations providing convenient access to the program. NIU also offers customized in-house courses for companies desiring to enroll multiple employees.
If you are taking this course in preparation for the PHR or SPHR exam, please confirm your eligibility to be a candidate for certification with the HR Certification Institute www.hrci.org before completing your registration. HRCI requires 2 years of exempt level experience to be accepted as a candidate for certification. Students within 1 year of graduation may take the exam but will not become certified until the experience requirement is met. Any questions about qualifications/eligibility to take the exam should be directed to HRCI - www.hrci.org. NIU does not assume responsibility for ensuring candidates are eligible to take the exam.
